Octave’s Precision Care Management Platform is the first-of-its-kind that accurately and objectively measures, and helps manage, complex and high-cost neurodegenerative diseases, starting with multiple sclerosis (MS). Octave enlisted the help of DesignMap to create a Care Management Platform and Service for people with MS that offers Neurologists a 360-degree view of their patients.

This platform was developed in response to the challenges faced by: 1) People with MS, who have symptoms that are difficult to distinguish from daily life, and 2) neurologists who have limited tools, data, and time to provide the best care.

The Care Insights Platform design began with creating a Vision Prototype that encapsulated all aspects of the solution and services into a single expression of the future experience.

The Ask

Starting with visionary direction from Octave’s co-founders, the team built personas, current/future state storyboards, system maps, and more to understand the myriad of issues to tackle in the 4Ps of healthcare: Physicians, Patients, Pharma, and Payers.

DesignMap brought a design perspective and Octave brought industry and subject matter expertise. Combined, we saw design thinking chip away at the unknown and provide the confidence to make key decisions.

Process

Design’s role in this project was not only to design a single touchpoint (such as the App), but rather, to design the process and experience of the entire system.

Design drove foundational product and company-wide decisions by gathering stakeholders and sparking fruitful conversations that may not have happened otherwise.

Outcomes

Through purposeful problem solving and innovative technologies, Octave’s platform generates, analyzes and combines data to improve outcomes and empower people with MS throughout their care.

Octave continues to innovate their platform to serve the ever-changing needs of People with MS.
