We gathered a few DesignMappers to reflect back on product and design trends from the past year and to discuss what might be next in 2023.
We wanted to try a little something different to close out the year: a no frills video roundtable with a few members of our team sharing our thoughts on things.
“What things?” you ask. Here’s a sneak peek:
We took a look back at some memorable design trends from 2022, including how consolidation within the B2B security space is ushering in a wave of platformization. As designers, we’re helping companies make sense of the complexities that come with bringing together solutions. And we’re making sure the user is at the center of all decisions, so the convergence of once separate solutions feels seamless and intuitive.
On the flip side, we pondered the concept of “de-platformization” on an individual level. Are younger generations feeling fatigued by the technology that infiltrates their everyday lives? We also discussed the attention needed to understand how Gen Z interacts with technology, particularly as they begin to infiltrate the workplace.
We’ll give you one guess at which topic dominated this part of the discussion…
That’s right! Our look ahead focused on Artificial Intelligence and the many implications, risks and possibilities it presents for designers and, well, everybody. While AI is not new, it feels like it recently got a “front-end.” It is no longer just the invisible engine running in the background of B2B solutions. Tools like ChatGPT and DALL·E are bringing AI visibility to the masses.
We also share an optimistic outlook on how AI can help us all focus on more meaningful work and even community engagement (while acknowledging that there are several ways the role of AI may play out).
Tune into the video below for a much deeper dive on product, design, and technology trends that have shaped and will shape the way we work and live.
